Whats Rotting Teeth Got To Do With Your Success?

You know how when you are planning to do something.
When you have a goal, an ambition a target.
You tend to concentrate on the big stuff. The big picture. But quite often the thing that stops you from succeeding is not a big thing. Its a little one. So small that you can’t even see it.

Can something beyond the vision of the naked eye really impact on your success?
You bet it can!

You see when you set yourself a goal and start working towards it, few people take the time to ask themselves this question;
“Do I genuinely believe I can succeed?”

You may say that’s a daft question to ask, because by the very nature that you are taking action its impossible to think that you would be contemplating anything but success.
But you see, here is the powerful “beyond the naked eye” fact. So many of us carry around a little thought or belief in the back of our minds. Held so deeply that even you may not be aware of it. But it can still be detrimental to your success.

Thoughts become automatic. So that if when you were 10 someone laughed at you when you tripped on stage, somewhere in the back of your psyche a thought could be passively waiting for the moment you decide to stick your head above the parapet.
That’s what rotting teeth has to do with your success.
No one wakes up one day with rotten teeth. Plaque invisibly and quietly works away for years to rot teeth. Something so small you can’t see it with the naked eye, and yet you can end up with a mouth as sexy as an evil witchs on a life time of fizzy fruit juice, just because you failed to deal with one 2 minute job a couple of times a day.

Amazingly Successful Woman, But Awful Teeth
Oh the Irony!
That folks is what a bad thought is like. It can work powerfully to undermine you. The going can get tough, and instead of believing in yourself and powering on, you can end up like a weighted bag at the bottom of the ocean, lethargic and lacking in confidence to go on.
So before you tackle any task however big or small, however scary or exciting. Ask yourself this;
“Do I genuinely believe I can succeed?”

If you feel you could be harbouring an unhelpful thought. Allow it to play through. In the queue at the bank, allow the experience to wash over you. Really live it. Understanding your negative thought is part of the solution, you don’t have to know why it’s there, the most important point is that you accept it is there.
Then decide to get rid of it.
And to do that here are a few practices to get into the habit of;

Have a bucket load of positive successful experiences that can instantly pop into your mind of all the occasions you succeeded and achieved your goals. If its not so easy to hang on to them, list them on paper. Have a picture of one of your proudest moments in your purse.
If you successfully followed the negative thought through and created what could happen. Now do the reverse. Imagine the opposite thought and role play in your mind what could happen. Note here – however big you think you are thinking – think bigger!

Decide to listen carefully to your internal voice. Is it normally positive? Is it encouraging? If it is not decide to just stop it. Don’t try and overcomplicate things and reprogramme new thoughts as that is too big a first step. For now just concentrate on stopping it mid sentence. When that becomes natural, then you can work at reprogramming positively.
With practice this tips (and more) will come naturally to you. The impact of that is that you will have to hand a secret arsenal of ways to ensure that success still keeps coming to you. Remember your brain is a muscle and if you don’t power it up positively, it will revert to  being powerfully negatively charged and what impact could that have on your success?
